WHY
The Golden Circle By Karthik

Most businesses know
what they do.

Very few know why it matters.

A strategy practice for brands, agencies and growing businesses. Brand, social and digital direction, set before the work begins.

The Origin

The name has
a reason.

The Golden Circle By Karthik draws its name from a simple but powerful idea: that the most compelling businesses and individuals lead with purpose before product. That concept, popularised by leadership thinker Simon Sinek, sits at the core of how this practice is built.

The name is an acknowledgment. The practice is entirely our own.

"Why is not a communication exercise. It is a business decision."

The founding premise of The Golden Circle By Karthik

GAP
The Gap in the Market

Most marketing is built on
activity without direction.

01 hub

Channels without a centre.

Social, performance, search and CRM each run on their own logic. No one holds the whole picture, so the budget grows while the brand stands still.

02 edit_note

Briefs before belief.

Brands brief agencies on output before deciding what they stand for. The creative runs ahead of the clarity, and the results compound the confusion.

03 account_tree

Technology without architecture.

Platforms and AI tools are added one at a time. Few are connected to a plan, and fewer still change how the business actually works.

Who This Is For

One practice.
Three kinds of mandate.

The work begins in different places depending on who is asking. The thinking underneath it remains the same.

For Brands

For brands that are starting out, brands that have lost their clarity, and brands ready to find their next direction.

The practice acts as the strategic office your marketing reports to. Direction is set here, and your in-house team or partners carry it forward with a clear brief and a clear measure of success.

Engagement

A Fractional CMO role, or a defined strategic mandate.

Brand, digital and content strategy

What the brand stands for, and how it shows up across every digital touchpoint.

Social media strategy

Platform roles, content pillars and the community the brand should be building.

Performance marketing strategy

Channel mix, funnel architecture, budget allocation and the measures that matter.

Go-to-market planning

Audience, positioning and sequencing for a launch or a new market.

Platform-specific campaign strategy

Campaigns designed around how each platform is actually used.

Marketing technology and integrations

The stack, the data flow and the automations that connect it to the plan.

For Agencies

For agency leaders who need senior strategic depth across brands and pitches, and teams ready to treat AI as a working capability.

Senior thinking, available across the portfolio without adding a senior hire to the payroll.

Engagement

A strategy time pool, a six-month programme, or commission-led introductions.

Strategy across the portfolio

A dedicated pool of senior strategic time, applied across brands, briefs and pitches wherever it is needed most.

AI Readiness Programme

Six months in three phases: Discovery, Module Delivery, and Embed and Build. The team finishes with working tools and workflows it built itself.

Business development

Warm, contextual introductions to qualified brand mandates. Commission on conversion, with no fixed fee.

For Growing Businesses

For founders who want clearer marketing and simpler operations, without building a department to get there.

The right foundations first, then the tools that let a small team do more of the work that matters.

Engagement

A defined mandate, with a clear scope and a clean handover.

Marketing foundations

Positioning, audience and a plan the business can follow without guesswork.

AI-led tools and workflows

Proven tools fitted to how the business already runs, so routine work takes less time.

Team enablement

Practical training so the team can run what has been set up, long after the engagement ends.

Brand, Social & Digital Strategy  ·  Fractional CMO

Over a decade across D2C, FMCG, Fintech, SaaS, BFSI, live events and agency environments. The through line: the brands that grew with clarity were the ones that invested in direction before distribution.

Most recently as an agency head, managing multi-brand mandates and cross-functional teams. Digital and content strategy has been the constant. The Golden Circle is where that thinking now works on its own terms.

WORK
Selected Work

Work that began
with a question.

Five mandates, each shaped by the question underneath the brief.

The Context

In 2020, one of India's best-loved music festivals could not happen on the ground. The virtual edition had to carry the festival's energy online without feeling like the lesser version.

The Thinking

Anticipation became part of the event. A phased digital strategy moved through a countdown built on AR filters and custom Instagram stickers, more than 30 influencers and 24 artists moving in coordination, brand partnerships alongside, and live coverage through the festival itself. Every piece of creative was planned with its route to the audience already decided.

The Outcome

  • 11,000+ tickets sold, the best in the festival's ten years.
  • 65,000 unique attendees.
  • 2,000+ new Instagram followers across four months.

Distribution and creative are the same conversation.

The Context

The brand needed awareness and a real community among the people most likely to invest, in a category where trust is earned slowly.

The Thinking

Quora, where the questions are asked in the audience's own words. A community-first strategy combined organic answers with paid amplification, built on investment awareness rather than product promotion, so the brand earned its place in the conversation before asking for attention.

The Outcome

  • 45 million views.
  • Published by Quora as an official platform case study.

The most valuable audience is already asking the question.

The Context

The brand wanted upper-middle-class India to understand what sits behind the name: the quality, the story and the innovation.

The Thinking

The story moved away from brand broadcast and into independent voices: media coverage, creator collaborations and a non-branded Reddit community of fans. Spread across enough credible sources, the brand becomes one that search and AI answer engines recognise and cite. The community also became a steady source of market research and product feedback.

The Outcome

  • 25M+ exposure through media coverage.
  • 20+ creator collaborations, reaching around 8 million.

Credibility is built across many voices, not one.

The Context

Two very different businesses faced the same problem. Quiklyz by Mahindra was introducing car leasing to buyers who had only ever thought about owning. Xfactory.in needed to reach business decision-makers who rarely make themselves visible.

The Thinking

Quora was treated as a long-term strategy channel, not a media line item. Each brand had its own content architecture: the questions its audience was already asking, answers written to inform before they persuade, and organic presence supported by paid amplification.

The Outcome

  • For Quiklyz, familiarity with leasing as a real choice.
  • For Xfactory.in, authority where business buyers research quietly.

Intent is found where people ask, not where brands announce.

The Context

BookAChange needed a social presence that felt real to its community, and a scholarship platform that could carry its programmes as they grew.

The Thinking

Two layers, one direction. On social, the strategy was built around people rather than polish, with UGC-led reels featuring the team's own members. The scholarship system was planned end to end: which features were truly necessary, how data would move and be stored, how applicants would be assessed, and how review teams would be structured and scheduled.

The Outcome

  • A complete, working system across the full scholarship cycle.
  • A student-facing portal, a backend for every application, the selection logic, and the team structure and scheduling behind review.
  • Built to take in 10,000 applications at once.

Good systems are designed before they are built.

The Method

Every mandate moves
through the same circle.

The Circle of Marketing. Three stages, repeated for as long as the work continues.

Stage 01

Define

Understand the business, the audience and the category. Set the positioning and decide what success will mean.

Stage 02

Create

Build the strategy, the channel architecture, the plan and the briefs that teams work from.

Stage 03

Grow

Read what the work returns, refine the direction, and keep the circle turning.

Execution sits with the teams closest to it. The direction, and the accountability for it, sits here.

The Consultancy Model

HOW THIS
ENGAGEMENT WORKS.

The Golden Circle By Karthik operates as a consultancy. That can mean working closely within your team's environment, sitting in on sessions, being present in the room where decisions are made. The distinction is that this is an advisory engagement, not employment.

Direction is set here. Execution sits with the teams best placed to carry it out, whether in-house or through your partners.

Engagements are scoped to what the business needs, from a defined mandate to an ongoing advisory role. A single-brand, full-time dedicated arrangement is not the default model. If that is what an engagement genuinely requires, it is a separate conversation with its own terms.

What this means for you

Senior strategic capability without a full-time headcount. Clear scope, defined terms, and one point of accountability for direction.

What this requires from you

A brief discovery conversation before any engagement commences. Scope is always agreed before work begins. There are no open-ended retainers.

The minimum engagement principle

Ongoing roles carry a defined minimum period, because the work delivers its value over time rather than in a single interaction. Minimums are agreed before work begins.

Indicative investment

Consulting is billed on committed time. This is how a typical month looks.

40 hours
Of thinking, strategy and consulting
→
₹1,60,000 + taxes
Per month

This is indicative and not the final cost. It shows how time translates into investment, and is subject to change based on the scope and duration of the engagement.

HELLO
The Next Step

Start with a conversation.

No forms, no decks, no commitments. A conversation to understand whether there is a fit, and what that could look like.

Every engagement begins with a discovery call. Reach out on any of the channels below and we can go from there.
